Shadow

To dream and build a more fraternal world in a more habitable environment.

Finca S’Olivar is the headquarters of the Fundació S’Olivar, whose objectives are related to solidarity, spirituality and ecology. It is located here precisely because, as in so many other hidden corners of the magnificent Serra de Tramuntana, the surroundings are of a beauty and harmony full of strength and serenity that have inspired artists and intellectuals of all ages.

That is why we say that S’Olivar is a sanctuary for peace in a double sense. Here you can enjoy the inner peace that the Serra de Tramuntana can bring us and, in addition, the profits it generates help to finance the Foundation’s activities in favour of peace.

In terms of solidarity, it should be noted that since 1994 the Foundation has been particularly involved in the search for reconciliation, peace and democracy in Rwanda and the DR Congo. In a resolution of April 2007, the importance of this work was unanimously recognised by all the political groups in the Spanish Parliament, which urged all the European institutions to support it. In 1999, it also unanimously supported the nomination of the Foundation’s president for the Nobel Peace Prize.

In terms of spirituality, the Foundation is part of the inter-religious non-violence movement, practised by Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King, and focuses on the search for peace through the power of truth and mercy.

In terms of environmental preservation, during its three decades of existence the Foundation has faithfully fulfilled the objective of restoring and preserving the environmental sanctuary that is S’Olivar. It has restored, for example, more than four thousand square metres of marshland. This represents an investment of close to 800,000 euros, which has been made possible thanks to grants of approximately 50% from the Balearic Government (FOGAIBA) and the Consell de Mallorca (Consorci Serra de Tramuntana).
